In May of this year Mars Deutschland will be celebrating its 50th anniversary after having ventured into the German market in 1960 by establishing a pet food factory in Verden, Lower Saxony. It might come as a surprise to many that the first Mars product leaving the production lines in Germany was a can of cat food rather than a chocolate bar.
